May is National Moving Month and the official start of the busy moving season. Unlike the winter holiday season, when charitable contributions are heightened, food banks are not well stocked during this time of the year. However, hunger is a year-round problem.
Moving is a common time for trimming the fat – getting rid of extra items that don’t fit, haven’t been used or simply are not considered worthwhile to include in the already jam-packed moving schedule. Often the unneeded, extra ‘things’ are non-perishable foods that would be much more good in a food pantry than a dumpster.
Coast Valley Moving is proud to be in partnership with Move for Hunger – a hunger relief organization that takes the annual food drive concept year-round, and in innovative new ways. Moving companies such as ours accept your unwanted non-perishable food items off your hands for you, and work with Move for Hunger to deliver your donations to food banks.
